John VanDeVoort

Flight Instructor

John VanDeVoort has been providing flight instruction at Heartland Aviation since 2014.  John started flying in November, 2011, taking flying lessons from Paul Anderson at Heartland, and then continuing his training through commercial pilot and flight instructor.  John graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in 1996 with a doctorate degree and has been the Pharmacy Director at Sacred Heart Hospital since 2004. He currently oversees pharmacy operations at both Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's Hospitals in the Chippewa Valley. John served in the Minnesota Air National Guard from 1990 to 1997 as an aero medical evacuation technician, accumulating 250 hours of crew time in the C-130 Hercules.  John also served as a combat hospital pharmacist for the US Army Reserve from 1997 to 2000. John and his wife are originally from Tower, MN, and they have two teenaged children.  They enjoy spending time watching sunsets with their children at their family cabin at Lake Vermillion.  John enjoys a variety of hobbies which include playing bass guitar, fishing, hunting, and traveling with family.
